LU#1 "WELCOME TO THE UNDERGROUND!"

vol. XII, no. 294
August, 2006

Oh look! Another issue of the Underground. *blows the dust off of the LU* Poor thing....it must've been down here all by itself for at least... *counts on fingers* three months? It's barely alive!

Enough drama. Welcome to another new school year, with a newly inaugurated president (R. Lo, welcome) and a newly built Bible building (ee-ZELL, not uhh-ZELL, right?). The LU is still alive and kind of kicking. Welcome, also, to any new readers of the LU. Please do yourself (and the rest of us) a favor and read some of the LU archives, especially the oldest ones. They will give you a proper feel of what the LU is supposed to be. The home page would also help. If you have anything you wish to say, let me know. This issue is the tail end of the last issue of last Spring ('06).

Some starter topics I have for a new issue are: What are your thoughts on R. Lo and the changes he is implementing within the school? If you've graduated, what are you doing now? Do you have anything to sell? Any old grudges/topics to rehash? Is drinking really sinful? And so on.

E-mail subscriptions are always available; just send me an e-mail and I'll add you to the list.

Please go to the original language instead of trusting "all your translations". "Reasonable service" and worship are not the same word and cannot be interchanged.

Thank you for your response. Some have the feeling that worship can be unregulated. Can a class can turn into worship? Some misuse the word "aletheia" in John 4:24 as "genuine or free from deceit" they deny that it denotes conformity to a devine standard. This word is used especially as absolute truth. The idea of "will worship" is condemed in Col.2:22-23. Thayer defines "will worship" as "worship which one perscribes and devises for himself" also Paul says that our actions must be in the name of Lord Jesus in Col. 3:16,17 which signifies that it be grounded in the authority of Christ. "Will worship" simply means that the actions engaged in please the worshipper and not because they were commanded of God. Worship is thought out, planned and done according to scripture. If there is any doubt that the word worship has been torn to bits, misused and abused just go to Google and type in the word worship. True worship has no room for man's alterations. It is based on God word and not emotions or happenstance.
